Dash clothing is not a brand I have come across before. A quick google and I’m no wiser apart from wondering if I have bought an item that was from a company owned by the Kardashians…? What I do love about these jeans and why I bought them at ‘full’ charity price of £4.75 is first and foremost the colour! I love bright pops of colour and these certainly ‘pop’! Also, they are a lovely soft brushed cotton that just feels yummy next to your skin.As I said in the Sales Rail blog, I discovered that not only are they a bit big around the hips, but they are also quite short. Too big, isn’t too much of an issue, too short and you need to get creative! Thankfully on these, I discovered that they had been hemmed up using some kind of hemming web tap, and quite a while ago from the looks as the hem has started to come apart.

The first thing I have done is to carefully pull the whole hem down on the Pink Dash trousers. This has added an extra two inches. That should be long enough, but I’m not afraid to unpick the hem and add some trimming if need be. The removal of the webbing wasn’t as difficult as I thought. Some I was able to scrap off with my fingernail, occasionally I needed a credit card, however using some non acetone nail polish remover and dabbing and rubbing with a cotton tip or rag, has removed enough for me to be happy to pop it in the wash. To the left is the before picture…

I’m quite pleased with the result that you can see on the right. There is still the odd bit left, but after a wash what remains is easily picked off. For me, the most important thing is that the nail polish remover hasn’t left any mark.

I’m going to go off and wear them now for a bit and see how I feel about them in a few weeks.

Catch you later!

A few weeks later…

Okay, so my intention was to sell these trousers, but I have totally fallen in love with them. I have not as yet taken them in, but I’ve worn them countless times and actually like the slightly baggy feel of them with a belt. This was a total success of a buy. So lesson to any of you out there… if something isn’t quite right think of what you can do with it. If you fall in love with it at first sight, there will always be something! Something too short can be lengthened, something too long, trimmed. Something too big can be taken in and something too small can have fabric added. Dust off your skills or see if you can find some local sewing lessons, and wear what you love while being a sustainability advocate!

Happy discoverings! x
