It was at the Bakewell Wool Gathering Festival that I first discovered Knitted Knockers. Having walked to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research in the Lingen Davies Shropshire Titty Trail the weekend before, it sparked my immediate interest and the purchase of a little knitted knocker keyring!

This wonderful charity provides free of charge knitted knockers made from 100% cotton to women who have undergone a masectomy or lumpectomy and find the silicone prosthesis supplied by the NHS uncomfortable, or heavy, or that it rubs against their scars left after surgery. They even have knockers that can be worn for swimming!

Made by volunteers around the UK who knit or crochet each knocker to a personalised request, this truly exemplifies the ‘made with love’ mentality. Please, check out their website below. If you are able to support them through the purchase of anything through their shop, or you want to volunteer with them, I thank you.

My friend has opted to remain flat, but I am so glad this charity is out there should she ever decide she wanted to have the option.
